The Künstlerhaus in Schwalenberg is waiting for the new scholarship holder for 2024. The residency scholarship for visual artists of the Landesverband Lippe is open for the period from 1 May 2024 – 31 October 2024.

Since the 19th century, the painters’ town of Schwalenberg in south-east Lippe has been a centre of attraction for artists, who found inspiration for their artistic work in the idyllic surroundings. An artists’ colony was established there in the early 20th century.
Since the 1970s, the Lippe State Association and the town of Schieder-Schwalenberg have continued the tradition of the town of painters as an art centre with regular art exhibitions, the Schwalenberg Summer Academy and art events.
The Schwalenberg Scholarship of the Lippe State Association for Fine Arts has been in existence since the early 1980s. The aim of the scholarship is to support young visual artists. This goes hand in hand with the aim of establishing Schwalenberg as a centre of a lively contemporary art scene in keeping with the tradition of the Schwalenberg artists’ colony. The scholarship holders live and work in the Künstlerhaus, which offers flats for artists as well as a communal studio with an idyllic view over the valley.
