In 2020, the painting week "Katwijk En Plein Air, painting by the sea" will be organized differently. This year it is not possible to have 15 artists working day in, day out. Nevertheless, the summer exhibition becomes interesting again.
The Dutch invited artists alternate and come to paint for a few days in small groups. The Stichting Kunstvereeniging Katwijk also asked members of the Katwijkerkring to come to Katwijk for one or more days this summer to paint. For example, 20 artists from the Netherlands are busy for a number of days this summer.

Attendees

The following artists will be at work in the municipality of Katwijk from 27 June. From Saturday to Tuesday Jacob Kerssemakers, Michiel Kranendonk, Fred Thoolen, Hans Versfelt and Sonja Brussen. From Tuesday June 30 to July 4 you can watch Corry Kooy, Gineke Zikken, Joanna Quispel, Michiel Schepers and Irma Braat at work.
In the same week, the exhibition is gradually created in the DUNA workshop. The paintings are still wet when they are hung and are only exhibited on the ground floor. The basement will remain closed this year. No opening will be organized either.

Artists of the Katwijkerkring

Artists from the Katwijkerkring, including Theo de Feyter, Peter van Berkel, Anna Pavlova, Bert Welmers, Louis Visser, Peter Smit and Piet Groenendijk come to paint for a few days during the summer and add their work to the exhibition. Who is coming and when will be announced on the website and Facebook.

A digital exhibition will be placed on the website www.schilderaanzee.nl so that all paintings can also be seen at home. But of course there is nothing like seeing the paintings themselves.

A day out

Take a day out and visit the Katwijks Museum, for example, where many paintings from the period around 1900 can be seen or go to the Spinoza house in Rijnsburg, which is located not far from the museum. The Narrow Gauge Museum and the Tower Museum in nearby Valkenburg are also worth a visit. And from the DUNAatelier you can walk across the dune for a lovely beach walk.

For the public that comes to view the exhibition in the DUNA atelier from 4 July, precautions are of course taken in accordance with the guidelines of the RIVM and the Museum Association.
8 brushes hang at the entrance. When they are up, wait until someone comes back to hang one.

The exhibition can be visited from Saturday, July 4 to Sunday, September 27, on Friday to Sunday from 2 to 5 pm, in the DUNA workshop on the Duinplein opposite the lighthouse. Entrance is free. All information is available at www.schilderaanzee.nl
