Ekensund in the circle of artist colonies the Baltic Sea

Dachau: Erkensund

Since 1875, the fishing village of Ekensund on the north bank of the Flensburg Fjord has become a favorite place for painters from all art centers in the German Empire. The roofs of the many brick factories, the ferry service and the goings-on of the fishermen offered a wealth of motifs and ensured that the coastal town on the Baltic Sea and its peculiarities were also known to foreign artists.
