Teichtor 9, Heikendorf
The landscape of his homeland was the defining inspiration of the Latvian open-air painter Edgars Vinters (1919-2014). We are pleased to present to you the impressive landscape of the Baltic Baltic Sea region, captured in his works, on the occasion of his 100th birthday in Heikendorf.
Forests, rivers, coastal strips and urban landscapes - the impressionist painter shows us all the facets of his native Latvia in bright colors. He is thus in strong contrast to the prevailing art trend of 1946 socialist realism, which he did not join. It was not until after 1991 that Edgars Vinters experienced his artistic liberation and recognition as Latvia's most important landscape painter.
