Bettina Heinen-Ayech – from Solingen to the Orient
The Solingen painter Bettina Heinen-Ayech (1937-2020) attracted attention at the age of 18 when she was allowed to take part in the first major international art exhibition of the young Federal Republic of Germany. The plein-air painter developed her very own watercolour style and settled in Algeria after intensive travels through Europe and a longer stay in Egypt. A life like an adventure novel – entirely dedicated to painting and international understanding.
Until her death in 2020, Algeria was the centre of her life, alternating with Solingen. Bettina Heinen-Ayech’s list of exhibitions includes over 90 major solo exhibitions in museums and important cultural institutions in Europe and North Africa.
