The artist Franz Hein was one of the members of the Grötzingen painters’ colony. In March 1891, he and his wife moved into the former summer palace of Margravine Augusta Maria.
Born in Hamburg-Altona on 30 November 1863, Hein was a representative of Art Nouveau and later became a teacher at the Royal Academy in Leipzig. He died on 21 October 1927 in Leipzig and left his family numerous sketches, watercolours and paintings that have rarely been exhibited to this day.
