Pure atmosphere! Highlights of the collection / Stimmung Pur! Highlights der Sammlung
Especially in today’s times of upheaval and uncertainty, characterised by crises, climate change, wars and their consequences, art can create a counterbalance. The longing for tranquillity, simplicity and beauty is inextricably linked to Worpswede and its art. With “Stimmung pur!”, the focus is on Worpswede landscape painting, which once made Worpswede famous and continues to inspire people today, even if only to immerse themselves for a short time in the beauty of an idyllic art world and escape from everyday life.
With the establishment of the new depot and a professional inventory, the works in the collection have now been brought up to date. The treasures contained in the collection, the focal points of the collector’s activities and the extent of the collection are slowly crystallising and being viewed from a new perspective.
With “Pure Mood!”, well-known, important works from the collection are included in the winter exhibition at the Worpsweder Kunsthalle, while works that have rarely and never been presented to the public are also on display. A good 50 works of art reflect the world of the artistic cosmos of Worpswede’s founding generation of painters and their successors.
