Surreal Worlds / Surreale Welten

The exhibition season begins on 28 April with famous names: Works by the most important surrealist artists, including Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, Huertez, René Magritte, André Masson, Joan Miró, Man Ray and others, will be on display at the Städtische Galerie from 28 April 2024 to 23 June 2024 under the title “Surreal Worlds”.
Surrealism is one of the most interesting art movements of the 20th century. It was not just an art style, but an intellectual movement that had its centre in Paris in the circle around André Breton. Surrealism spread from France to Spain, Germany, Mexico and the USA, and translated from French, surrealism means “above reality”. The aim was to create a superordinate reality that goes beyond what we see and includes the unconscious and dreamlike. The laws of logic and reason were suspended. This exhibition is not only a visual delight, it also stimulates the viewer’s imagination and takes them into other worlds.
All the works on display are kindly loaned by Galerie Sundermann FineArt from Würzburg.
The opening is on Sunday, 28 April 24 at 4 pm, admission to the opening is free.
