The Brouwer Collection is an exhibition not to be missed for lovers of art and culture. Collected by the talented Katwijk artist Gerard Brouwer (1951 – 2017) , this impressive collection of paintings and sculptures offers a unique look at fifty years of art in and around the former artists’ colony Katwijk aan Zee. Many of the works of art on display were acquired during the annual ‘Katwijk en plein air’ painters festival.
The Brouwer Collection provides a kaleidoscopic picture of artistic visions of Katwijk and the adjacent Dune and Flower Bulb Region. The ‘en plein air’ paintings testify to the careful observations of the artists. The recognizable themes are a reflection of the breathtaking beauty of the Dune and Bulb Region.
The Brouwer Collection also contains various pieces from the work of Gerard Brouwer as a sculptor. His bronze sculptures are strong, emotionally charged and reveal a deep love for human figures and everyday beauty.
The Katwijks Museum offers the unique opportunity to admire the private collection of the Brouwer family. Step into the world of this beautiful collection of sculptures and paintings and let yourself be carried away.
