Dark, bold surfaces, gradations of grey or brilliant white are typical of Wolfgang Werkmeister’s extensive graphic work. Coastal cycles of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, in large format, accompany and characterise his masterly graphic work, which is to be the focus of the exhibition on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Born in Berlin, Wolfgang Werkmeister moved to Hamburg at a young age, where he attended the Fachhochschule für Gestaltung. His captured natural moods are a compositional delight of black and white etching.
In an artist talk, Dr. Thomas Gädeke, art historian and former head of the Graphic Arts Collection at Gottorf Castle in Schleswig, will talk to Wolfgang Werkmeister about his etching art.
