Special exhibition: Ruth Klatte on her 100th birthday

Ruth Klatte, originally from Dresden, first spent a week in Ahrenshoop in 1948. The region never let her go. She wrote: “Never before had I seen the sun and moon rise like that – or the entire night sky full of stars. That was decisive for me. That’s where I wanted to paint.” In 1961, she moved to Wieck on the Darß.

On July 15, the artist will turn 100. To mark the occasion, the art museum is honoring Ruth Klatte with a special exhibition. Around 40 works from the museum’s collection will be on display – along with important pieces provided by private lenders from the region. The presentation is complemented by selected works from the art collection of the district of Vorpommern-Rügen.
