Paula Modersohn-Becker and her companions. The indivisible sky

Liberated muse. Martha Vogeler
The connection to Paula Modersohn-Becker is a source of inspiration, emancipation and artistic identity for Martha Vogeler. It helps her to find the courage to go her own way – as an artist, entrepreneur and mother.
Martha Vogeler is an extraordinary woman who, at the beginning of the 20th century, was already living a self-determined life between art, crafts and entrepreneurship. Through the Worpswede artists, including Paula Modersohn-Becker, she soon found a way of life that suited her creative personality. Heinrich Vogeler also encouraged her talents. She had her own studio at the Barkenhoff in Worpswede, where she painted, made etchings, devoted herself to textile art and designed clothes and furniture.
