Ahrenshoop – Die Künstlerkolonie an der Ostsee

Ahrenshoop - An Artists' Colony at the Baltic Sea

On a hike across the Fischland, the painters Paul Müller-Kaempff and Oskar Frenzel discovered the small town on the narrow strip of land between the sea and the lagoon in 1889, where until then only fishermen and boatmen lived. They were impressed by its scenic beauty and, above all, the tranquility there. A few years later, the first artists settled there and made Ahrenshoop the focus of their work. Other painters and art lovers joined them, met to exchange experiences and discussed the various art movements.
