Jamlitzer Kunstgeschichten 1902-1964

Study trips by the Charlottenburg painting school of Franz Lippisch, a co-founder of the Berlin Secession, gave rise to a small artists’ colony in Jamlitz/Lower Lusatia on the edge of the Spreewald. The book tells its story and honours the life and work of local artists in 14 chapters. 54 short portraits are dedicated to art-loving visitors, including those in the guest book of the Jamlitz inn “Zum kühlen Grund” run by the Paeprer family. A panorama of German cultural and contemporary history is revealed in miniature.
