TUSCULUM

An inviting community studio and art center in Murnau, GER

Giving space to art in the Blue Country

Artists’ Association Murnau e.V. – Community Studio TUSCULUM, Murnau am Staffelsee
Artistic studio, course location and producer gallery

The artists’ association Murnau e.V. – Atelier TUSCULUM was founded in 1998 by Willem Bredemeyer, Bernhard Kölbl and Parviz Massoudi. Since then the association has continuously between 30 and 40 members. TUSCULUM offers artists a forum in which they can work together. And it promotes art in public life, especially in the form of art exhibitions workshops and courses. Thus, the artists’ association participates intensively and regularly in the cultural life of Murnau, Germany and Europe and helps to shape it.
In doing so, their own premises are always put to the test, because in order to remain flexible and to receive new impulses, artistic work needs the exchange of ideas and stimuli through communication. Working together is of existential importance to them – especially when cultures and personalities nudge each other and ignite new fires of creativity.
For this reason, TUSCULUM also cultivates Europe-wide relationships with artists in a variety of ways. In the past, members of the association were invited to exhibitions in Barbizon, Graz, Kronberg, Tervuren or Budapest. The group’s program also includes artist and studio exchanges – for example with Baia Mare, Szentendre and Taranto. The last international artists’ meeting in Murnau, TUSCULUM ART & FRIENDS 2022, was attended by three artists whose contacts had been established through euroArt: from Scotland, Hungary and France.
