Painting with Threads. Woven Images by Ursula Jaeger / Malen mit Fäden Bildgewebe von Ursula Jaeger

Ursula Jaeger is one of Germany’s most extraordinary picture weavers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Her multifaceted work encompasses socially relevant,
literary, artistic and religious themes. ‘For me, picture weaving is painting with threads, without imitating painting,
imitating painting,’ is how she describes her work. Jaeger’s tapestries are created on a loom using the traditional tapestry technique with linen yarns, often combined with non-textile materials such as paper, papyrus or veneer. Her tapestries can be found in museums, public buildings and churches; on the occasion of her 90th birthday, a representative selection of her works will be shown at the Barkenhoff.
