Paws, Hooves, Feathers – Animals in Art

Sometimes it is deer at the edge of a forest, cows in a meadow or ducks on a pond: the range of artworks with which artists from Grötzingen have captured our animal companions is wide. Animals continue to fascinate in their habitat and their beauty, and not only at the end of the 19th century, when the members of the local artists’ colony travelled the streets of the village and its surroundings with brush and easel. This small exhibition by the Heimatfreunde Grötzingen presents painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture on the theme of animals and village life.

Introduction with literary miniatures by Wolfgang Wegner.
What does a deer at the edge of the forest think? Why does a cow radiate such perfect calm? And do ducks on a pond really have a plan?
In his reading, Wolfgang Wegner combines three humorous literary miniatures with brief reflections on the relationship between animals, humans and landscape. Somewhere between precise observation of everyday life and quiet comedy, he opens up fresh perspectives on depictions of animals, habitats and village life in Grötzingen.
