Up close. Inès Longevial
Since 2013, Inès Longevial (*1990) has been living in Paris as a freelance artist. Portraiture has become her preferred genre and field of experimentation. Faces, delicate gestures, and pensive moods characterize her often large-format works. Skin is at the center of her reflections. It becomes a map, a memory, a projection: a porous surface on which individual and collective narratives are deposited.
She has been drawing since early childhood. She initially found inspiration in books about Picasso, Matisse, and Modigliani. Later, it was the biography and work of Paula Modersohn-Becker that fascinated her and in which she discovered parallels to her own art.
Inès Longevial knows how to captivate viewers with her art. Following exhibitions in Paris, New York, and Shanghai, her works are now being presented for the first time in a solo exhibition in Germany, in Worpswede.
